Paragraph Meaning (Complete English Translation)

As opportunities to interact with people from different cultures increase, situations where there is a gap between what was intended and what was understood have become more common. Even when the same words are used, differences in cultural background and values can lead to different interpretations. In particular, vague or indirect expressions are said to easily cause misunderstandings. On the other hand, if there is an attitude of trying to understand the other person’s culture, even if small misunderstandings occur, relationships rarely deteriorate significantly. It is important to carefully observe the other person’s reactions and provide additional explanations when necessary. In addition to words, non-verbal elements such as facial expressions and attitudes also have a major impact on communication. Actions that one is not consciously aware of may leave a strong impression on others. What is important in intercultural communication is not perfect mutual understanding, but maintaining a willingness to continue dialogue based on the assumption that differences exist. Accumulating such efforts becomes the foundation for building trust.
